6xxx Series
Aluminum Extrusions & Automotive Sheet
Heat-Treatable Structural Aluminum
Al-Mg-Si alloys for lightweight vehicle structures
6 Series Overview
6xxx alloys are heat-treatable aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloys, strengthened by Mg₂Si precipitation during ageing.
They combine medium-to-high strength, good extrudability and formability, corrosion resistance and weldability, and gain strength during paint baking. This makes them the main alloys for automotive body panels, crash structures, battery enclosures and extruded profiles.
Heat-Treatable Strength
T4, T5 and T6 tempers deliver medium-to-high strength for structural parts.
Excellent Extrudability
Complex thin-wall profiles with a good surface finish and anodizing response.
Bake-Hardening Formability
Formable in T4 temper and gains strength in the paint-bake cycle, ideal for outer panels.

Industry
Application scenario
6000-series aluminum alloys are the backbone of automotive lightweighting: 6016, 6014 and 6111 sheet for hoods, doors and roofs, and 6061, 6082 and 6005A extrusions for crash-management systems, subframes, side sills and battery enclosures. They are also widely used in rail vehicles, building profiles and machined industrial parts.
